The wall itself is at the base of a large rock formation that protrudes from the shoreline a good distance from both the bluff and the open sea.
The arch contains one of those "liquid" lava lines through it which may be why it has the strength to withstand the waves.
Behind the rock is a deep narrow channel that roars with the in and out flow of the waves.
